I once only used skin care products out of habit. I would just go through my skin care products as if it were a routine: cleanse, exfoliate, rinse, and moisturize. However, I realized that if I was mindful about my skin care experience, it would not only help my skin, but also my spirit. After reading dozens of self help books, I decided to apply some of these various concepts into my day-to-day life. I learned that mindfulness was living in the moment. Rather than rushing their my skin care products regimen, I decided to set a special amount of time dedicated to my skin and me.
I began by cleansing my skin. I felt as if I was cleansing negativity off and preparing it for the positivity that was later to come. Exfoliation allowed me to remove even more negativity. I imagined that this was the kind of negativity that laid deeper in my skin. I always exfoliate my skin gently and paid close attention to my technique. I then rinsed it off and applied moisturizer. This was the positivity that I needed. I took my time and rubbed it in a circular massaging manner. I visualized my skin much more radiant and surprisingly, I feel as if my skin has physically improved each day because of applying mindfulness to skin care products.
